As Karnataka has witnessed an uncontrollable surge in covid cases in the past one month, a weekend curfew is in place till the 4th of May’21 so as to limit its spread.
While earlier when the night curfew and weekend curfew news were announced, it was clearly stated that construction and civil activities would be allowed. However, now this has also come under the radar.
Now, the state government has decided to impose a ban on all construction activities during the weekends, as announced by Revenue Minister R. Ashoka recently.
While they are refraining from using the terminology, it seems the state has already imposed lockdown, at least during the weekend.
R. Ashoka is also the vice-chairman of the Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority. The department is of the idea that no labourer should be out working on the weekend amidst the weekend curfew restrictions. This will bring all construction activities to a halt.
Apart from the construction update, there is a list of what will be accessible on weekend during the curfew and what not.
Movement across the state will be restricted during this period. No one – except people working in essential services like fire, police, water supply, electricity supply, telecom, plus patients and their attendants – will be allowed to roam around. Grocery stores, milk booths, and meat shops etc. will be allowed to operate between 6 am to 10 am.
For ration visits too, people are required to limit their movement to their local grocery store and not venture out further from their locality within the stipulated time frame. No one – except for the caretakers – will be allowed to enter religious institutions till the time the curfew is ON.
